The Office of Access and Community Initiatives builds, improves, and strengthens partnerships between Auburn University and the surrounding community that exemplify the ideals of diversity, active learning, and innovation to foster a climate of respect for the free exchange of knowledge and ideas in a diverse, rapidly changing, and increasingly technological global society. A&CI provides timely responses to community inquiries, develops connections to campus resources, and facilitates partnerships aligned with the educational mission of the University. |

• ALABAMA COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SYSTEM
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) offers a variety of opportunities for students to perform service statewide through its network of county offices. The extension office conducts a number of projects and collaborations with community partners focusing on six program areas. These include agriculture, forestry and natural resources, urban and nontraditional programs, family and individual well-being, community and economic development and youth development.

• Biggio Center
The Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning was established in 2003 through funding from the estate of Alvin A. and Mila Biggio promote the professional development of all instructional, administrative, and professional staff in support of excellent teaching and enhanced learning. In keeping with Auburn University's mission, the Biggio Center uses existing resources to their fullest potential and seeks new ways to offer the highest quality programming and services. |

• College of Liberal Arts Civic Engagement Initiative
The College of Liberal Arts Civic Engagement Initiative is chaired by Dr. Christa Slaton, Associate Dean for Education Affairs and Professor in the Department of Political Science. |

• Educational Support Services Learning Communities
Learning Communities are groups of 25 students who share a common interest in either an academic college or topic. Learning Community groups take several classes together including a UNIV course (an elective course that focuses on transitioning to college and study skills), and one to three core curriculum courses, such as English Composition or World History. Additional organized activities may be included which relate to the Learning Community topic. |

• IMPACT
IMPACT is Auburn University’s central resource for volunteer opportunities and community service in the Auburn community. IMPACT provides students with the opportunity to volunteer throughout the week and special one-time volunteer opportunities. Students can work around their schedules and select from various volunteer opportunities.
IMPACT is not a club that requires dues or meetings. There is no weekly commitment required - just come and volunteer when you can and as often as you would like. |

• Project Uplift
Project Uplift is an agency whose main goal is to help children develop constructive, happy lives so that the delinquency rate in our county will decrease. Project Uplift is governed by the Lee County Youth Development Center's board of directors, administrator of a local ad valorem tax, our primary funding source. Additional major support comes from the Cities of Opelika and Auburn, the Lee County United Way, and several voluntary contributions.

| The Department of Psychology, in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, provides in-kind services and office space to the volunteer program through the Psychological Services Center. Project Uplift offers volunteer services to Lee County children at no cost to their families. Since our opening in July 1973, more than 5500 volunteers and children have participated in our program (presently we have about 845 people in the program). Only a small percentage of the children have entered the juvenile court system during the time that they were involved with the program. |
